Cubs Overcome Twins 7-3 to Break Through.
Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins saw one of the Chicago Cubs’ best games of the year. With a 7-3 win to square the three-game series, Shota Imanaga delivered a gem and Isaac Paredes had a significant effect at the plate.
The thought of how much better this Cubs club could have been this season is annoying. Their prospects of making the playoffs would probably be lot greater if they continually performed at Tuesday’s caliber. The 2024 club’s decline will coincide with a decrease in the amount of time lost on continuity. Paredes’ acquisition from the Tampa Bay Rays was a positive move, and it is now up to Jed Hoyer to carry on that trajectory through 2025.
On the mound, Shota Imanaga had it operating. The lefty gave an indication of what was to come with two strikeouts in the opening inning.
Against the ace of the Twins, Pablo Lopez, the Cubs scored first. Chicago took the lead in the first inning thanks to a three-run home run by Isaac Paredes.
Imanaga got the run support he’s needed all season from an early 3-0 lead. The Cubs’ offense has far too frequently been inactive, squandering quality pitching performances.
However, the Cubs had the opportunity to acquire more on Tuesday. With another RBI single, Paredes gave the home team a 4-0 lead.
