Leicester’s erratic preseason and the things Steve Cooper needs to do to get back to the Premier League
After winning their first two preseason matches, Leicester City lost their next two. This is the tale of the Foxes’ current state and the things Steve Cooper needs to alter before our Premier League comeback.
There have been two wins and two losses for the King Power team in their preseason games. They also have an upcoming Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspurs. Those defeats can be attributed to inconsistency and genuinely subpar performances overall, but the Welshman still has a lot of work ahead of him if Leicester is to stay in the Premier League.
The actions of Leicester City
Cooper has had difficulty cracking the starting lineup. This is acceptable during games played behind closed doors, but because there is still one preseason game left, the Foxes must decide who will start in order for the supporters who can actually watch and see.
Two very different teams, each with its own identity and style, were tested in each of the losses; when players play with peers they expected to act in a certain way, there can be a disconnect due to a lack of a unified play style within specific positions and roles. Ricardo Pereira, for instance, can blast it forward, cut inside, and attempt a shot.
