Freddie Freeman’s Loss With the Dodgers May Soon Come to an End
Due to his son’s uncommon autoimmune illness, Freddie Freeman is on the family emergency list, and the Dodgers have struggled without him.
This weekend, the Dodgers don’t anticipate having Freeman back. But Oakland media were informed by manager Dave Roberts that he might make a comeback in the next series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Since Freeman was cut by the Dodgers last Friday in Houston, the team has averaged 3.8 runs per game. That compares to the Dodgers’ average runs per game (4.9) for the 2024 season—more than a full run fewer.
The Dodgers host the National League-leading Philadelphia Phillies in a three-game series at home after playing the A’s in Oakland on Saturday and Sunday.
It makes sense for Freeman to be absent.
Maximus, the Dodgers’ son, was admitted to the hospital and given a Guillain-Barré syndrome diagnosis while the team was traveling. Maximus’ condition is serious, according to a statement made on Instagram by his spouse Chelsea.
“He will need time to recuperate, but we are confident that he will be fully restored. His progress over the past 48 hours has amazed us,” stated Chelsea Freeman. “Today is a major victory for us as Maximus was removed from his ventilator and removed from his breathing tube. We have seen a miracle in his healing and we firmly believe in the efficacy of prayer. Please don’t stop praying for Maximus and our family.
