Brandon Thomas-Asante’s decision to move after turning down a move to Hull City in favor of Coventry City
With the start of the new season, the well-liked striker moved from West Bromwich to Coventry.
For the first time since leaving West Bromwich Albion to join Coventry City and declining a move to Hull City, Brandon Thomas-Asante has spoken.
After agreeing to a cost of around £1.7 million for Asante, City believed they had their man. However, at the last minute, the striker decided to join the Sky Blues and stay in the Midlands.
With a year remaining on his Albion contract, Asante—who led the Baggies in scoring the previous season—opted to travel the 28 miles to the CBS Arena. Asante scored 11 goals at the Hawthorns.
I want to share that thrill with the supporters. Knowing there is a really dynamic squad here is one of the reasons I came, and I want to add to that,” the 25-year-old stated on the Sky Blues website.
“There are many opportunities for an exciting new chapter and start to my career. Growing up not too far away, I was able to learn about and witness firsthand the rich history of the past. I also saw what had been accomplished recently and realized there was a great deal of accomplishment and opportunity for success that I could add to.
