£32 million A Tottenham player repeatedly declines offers to leave the team
This summer, Tottenham Hotspur might have a very hard time offloading even one player.
Spurs should be commended greatly for their efforts during this window thus far. Their roster has been strengthened with the additions of Timo Werner and Archie Gray, and they have also made a lot of room by moving people on.
It’s excellent that Tottenham has let go of Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Bryan Gil, among others, but there are still a handful who need to leave before the window closes.
One of them, though, has been turning down every offer he has received this summer.
The reasons for Sergio Reguilon’s rejection of offers from Tottenham
In the summer of 2020, Tottenham paid £32 million to acquire Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid (Sky Sports).
The Spaniard arrived with a lot of buzz and impressed Jose Mourinho, the Spurs manager at the time, in his early performances. In his rookie season, he was a regular and ended up with five assists.
After that, Reguilon’s playing time at Tottenham steadily decreased, and in the 2022–2023 season, he was loaned to Atletico Madrid.
He went on loan twice more, once to Brentford and once to Manchester United, when things didn’t work out there either.
