Leeds United is making a bid for the former Liverpool and Rangers winger, while Coventry City is going to hijack the £3 million Hull City deal.
The most recent transfer rumors from around the league.
According to reports, Coventry City has beaten Hull City, a rival team in the Championship, to sign Brandon Thomas-Asante, a forward for West Bromwich Albion.
The once-capped Ghanaian international was reportedly the target of a successful £3 million bid from the Tigers earlier this week, and a transaction was anticipated to be finalized by the end of the week. Thomas-Asante, who will become Mark Robins’ fifth summer transfer window addition after passing a medical at the Sky Blues training facility, will now reportedly have his bid matched by Coventry, according to Football Insider.
After reaching a personal terms agreement with the Baggies striker, Thomas-Asante, who is now increasingly set to sign a contract with the Robins, will join a group that already includes Australian youth Raphael Borges, Huddersfield Town midfielder Jack Rudoni, Bologna defender Luis Binks, and goalkeeper Oliver Dovin of Hammarby.
West Brom will be somewhat devastated by the move as Thomas-Asante helped his team qualify for the Championship play-offs last season with 12 goals and 2 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. However, a semi-final loss to Southampton put an end to any hopes of a Premier League comeback.
