Jalen Ramsey of the Patriots is ecstatic about the new kickoff rules.
For the 2024 season, the NFL kickoff will undergo a significant alteration, and Jalen Reagor, a return specialist for the Patriots, could not be more excited.
Now, there is only one line of defense. That seems like a horrible idea for the kickoff squad. According to team footage, Reagor told reporters on Tuesday that it was awful. “Excellent, excellent for me.”
After the kick, the kicker cannot cross midfield until the ball is in play, which occurs when the ball touches the ground or is caught by a receiver. The kicker will set up the ball at his own 35-yard line. The 40-yard line of the receiving team is where the remaining ten kickers on the squad will line up.
Reagor thinks he has the advantage on the field before the defenders can even get close to him because of the way they have to set up.
“I’m going to be up like, 20 mph by that time,” he declared. “It’s over if they miss.”
The receiving team may employ two returners back to field the ball under the new regulations, but if they choose to use just one, the additional player will line up with the other players between the 30- and 35-yard lines.
