Jackson Holliday Reacts to the Orioles Grand Slam Go back
Trades and injuries created space for Jackson Holliday to rejoin the Baltimore Orioles. His first career home run, which also happened to be his first career grand slam, was recorded in just one game.
Against the Toronto Blue Jays, Holliday launched an 85.4 mph slider from Yerry Rodriguez 439 feet into right field and into the famed Eutaw Street promenade.
The top prospect in MLB spoke with media following the 10-4 victory.
Holliday remarked after the game, “It’s pretty surreal,” according to Steve Melewski of MASN Sports. “I couldn’t have asked for a finer first home run. Just being able to contribute to the team’s victory is thrilling. I thought I wasn’t really capable of doing that when I was having trouble. But more than anything else, I want to win in a crucial situation.
Holliday claims that in his first MLB game since April 23, he kept things simple.
“Tried to keep it simple,” Holliday went on. “The last time I came up here, I saw that I was attempting to overswing and do a little bit too much.
Holliday, now back with the Orioles, will try to solidify his spot in the rotation in advance of the postseason. There has never been a better chance to play in Major League Baseball with starter Jorge Mateo out due to injury and Connor Norby acquired by the Miami Marlins.
