Aaron Wan-Bissaka and West Ham United are “close to agreeing” on a deal.
With Manchester United expecting to use the proceeds from the sale to bankroll a pursuit of Bayern Munich fullback Noussair Mazraoui, West Ham United and the team seeking to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka are “close to agreeing a deal.”
Being eager to acquire a right-back to his roster before the new season began, Julien Lopetegui’s West Ham has become a serious contender to sign Wan-Bissaka.
Mazraoui had accepted a contract from Bayern to join the Hammers, but the Moroccan turned down the offer in favor of staying at Old Trafford to rejoin Erik ten Hag.
However, Wan-Bissaka, who has just a year left on his Manchester United contract, would need to go before United could afford to make a deal to sign Mazraoui.
West Ham promptly decided to try a different tactic and made a move for the former Crystal Palace player, although there were differing reports about whether or not personal conditions could be worked out.
The London club has now approved “many aspects of [the] deal” for the 26-year-old right-back, but Dharmesh Sheth (Sky Sports) has disclosed there is still “work to do on [the] final fee and structure” of payment.
