Las Vegas Raiders

NFL-NEWS: The Arizona Cardinals officially signed a three-year, $93.4 million contract with Las Vegas Raiders star and fan favorite cornerback. According to ESPN, This is the first time that the NFL has used technology to quantify first downs since…

At last, the NFL is utilizing technology to calculate first downs.
The NFL is beginning to realize that using two sticks and a chain to measure 10 yards is not the most accurate method, according to Sony.
During a first-down measurement, if you have ever scrolled through social media on an NFL Sunday, you have undoubtedly seen a post similar to this one:
“Despite having access to all the technology in the world, we still measure first downs with two sticks and a chain.”

It’s possible that I sent you that at least once over that time.

But those times might be drawing to an end. Sony will now be the “official technology partner of the NFL, as well as the new official headphones of the NFL,” according to an announcement made by the league on Wednesday.
The Associated Press reports that as part of the partnership, Sony’s Hawk-Eye technology will be used to measure first downs. This year’s preseason games will make use of this technology, as reported by Rob Maaddi in the AP.
It might not be ready for usage in every game until 2025, but it might be added sooner.

According to the Associated Press, executive vice president and chief information officer of the NFL Gary Brantley stated, “We’re in the installation phase for all of our stadiums, really getting them calibrated and up to date.” We’re just now reaching a point where the system is calibrating properly across all of our venues and is as accurate as possible. Within those stadiums, which range in age, are other stadiums of various sizes. Therefore, all we’re actually doing is installing the infrastructure and ensuring sure the cameras are placed.
