Five trade deadline fantasy baseball wins and losers
Major League Baseball fanbases experience a wave of hope or sorrow in response to the Trade Deadline. Congratulations if your favorite team added players to help them advance to October. And my regrets if they sold your favorite players or did nothing at all to support the future.
It’s nerve-racking for Fantasy Baseball fans to have a player on the actual Trade Block. There are typically one or two valuable assets that lose their luster, so you hope and pray that your player ends up in a circumstance that increases their value and does not end up losing important playing time.
In light of the several impact players that were traded in the last days before the deadline, let’s examine who is becoming more valuable and who may have lost value.
Fantasy Baseball’s 2024 Trade Deadline Winners and Losers
WINNER: SP for the Dodgers Flaherty Jack
Jack Flaherty, the top arm moved at this year’s deadline, finds himself thrust into the middle of a pennant chase with his home team. Flaherty has put in a ton of effort to increase his value ahead of his second chance at free agency, and so far, it has paid off handsomely. Pitching to a 2.95 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 133 strikeouts, he had the seventh-highest strikeout total in the American League.
