MLB Trade Rumors: All-Star Prospects The Red Sox Are Among The Favorites
Before the MLB trade deadline expires, the Red Sox might make a major impact.
Major news was revealed on Sunday by former major league general manager Jim Bowden, who said that Boston was one of the teams interested in Miami relief pitcher Tanner Scott. In a follow-up on Monday, Bowden—who is now a contributor to The Athletic—stated that the Red Sox were among the clubs “leading the mix” to sign the Marlins’ lights-out left-hander.
It’s important to note that Boston’s alleged Scott chase appears to be up against fierce competition. As to Bowden, the other clubs “leading the mix” to win the 2024 All-Star are the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and Kansas City Royals, all of which entered Tuesday in control of an American League postseason place. It looks like there are other clubs engaged as well.
It is not at all surprising that the market is so strong. With 18 saves in 45 2/3 innings and a pitiful 1.18 ERA going into deadline day, Scott was in excellent shape. If Scott were dealt to Boston, Kenley Jansen would probably still be the team’s closer, but the great southpaw might be Boston’s best setup man heading into the last two months of the regular season.
