Dodgers Obtain Three Players in a Record-Breaking Three-Team Trade
The three-team transaction involving the Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Chicago White Sox is now officially complete. The entire trade is as follows:
Cardinals are given: R.H. Erick Fedde, OF Tommy Pham, cash from CWS, PTBNL, and LAD
OF is given to the White Sox. Miguel Vargas, INF Jeral Perez, INF Alexander Albertus, and PTBNL/cash from LAD
The Dodgers Complete Trade Evaluation
Get: RHP Oliver Gonzalez, RHP Michael Kopech, and INF/OF Tommy Edman
Trade-offs: two PTBNL or cash; OF Miguel Vargas; INF Alexander Albertus; INF Jeral Perez
How Tommy Edman Will Be Used by the Dodgers?
Edman, who is versatile enough to play both infield and outfield, will probably cover third base and shortstop in the absence of Max Muncy, Mookie Betts, and Miguel Rojas. Edman can also play center field, which is advantageous given Andy Pages’ persistent defensive shortcomings.
Edman has a lifetime OPS of.726 and a batting average of.265. In the previous three years, he has stolen 89 bases.
Oliver Gonzalez: who is he?
Gonzalez is a Panamanian right-handed pitcher who is 17 years old. After signing a $400,000 contract in the most recent international class, he has a 4.22 ERA after pitching 21.1 innings in the Dominican Summer League this season.
