The Philadelphia 76ers are already under needless pressure from Daryl Morey.
In the Eastern Conference, are the Philadelphia 76ers the clear favorites?
General manager of the Philadelphia 76ers Daryl Morey was under tremendous pressure coming into this offseason. It was up to Morey to figure out how to dramatically improve the roster around Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, and he succeeded admirably. Though there were moments of uncertainty and worry, Morey succeeded. The Sixers’ decision to acquire Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers was the offseason’s most egregious move.
Along with bringing back Kyle Lowry, Kelly Oubre Jr., and KJ Martin, the Sixers also added PG and signed Caleb Martin, Reggie Jackson, Eric Gordon, and Andre Drummond. The Sixers have a strong chance of finishing among the top teams in the Eastern Conference, assuming they stay healthy.
Although that’s probably the case, I don’t think a team like the Sixers should be boasting about it, especially in light of their recent poor postseason performance. However, it doesn’t appear that Morey received that communication.
Regarding the Sixers’ standing in the East, Morey stated that they “are going to be coming to take the title away from them.”
