Fabrizio Romano believes Everton is about to start “advanced talks” with a player who would cost £150,000 a week.
Everton’s midfield, with a plethora of players ready to step in when necessary, was perhaps their strongest position in terms of quality last season.
With differing degrees of success, players were forced to play out of position as Sean Dyche searched for a way to keep them in the Premier League.
After completing that duty successfully, the engine room was a well-oiled machine by the end of the season, and they cruised to safety.
Now, further support might be added to that base.
Update on Kalvin Phillips Everton is provided by Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian transfer journalist, speaking on his Daily Briefing that was just made public this morning, did, in fact, touch on Everton in passing. This was to be expected considering their relentless summertime activity.
Additionally, he has updated us on Everton’s interest in Kalvin Phillips, a midfield player for Manchester City who is rumored to be leaving the Etihad this summer.
Although the statement does not seem particularly encouraging, there appears to be genuine hope that Dyche will be able to sign the £150k-per-week midfield player, as it states: “There’s no major update yet on Kalvin Phillips’ situation.” Everton has been connected, and from what I gather, not just Everton but also a number of other teams have spoken with his agents; however, this is not a close or impending matter at this time.
