A former player with the 76ers is signing a contract to play abroad.
Furkan Korkmaz had been linked to a desire to leave the Philadelphia 76ers for years.
The veteran forward decided he no longer wanted to be a member of the team for unknown reasons.
He got his desire last season when they traded him to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Buddy Hield, then the Pacers cut him go.
Korkmaz was adamant about his intention to play in the NBA, even in the face of several rumors that he was returning to Europe to play abroad.
That is no longer the case in the modern era.
As to a report by Forbes Sports’ Evan Sidery, the veteran Turkish player has consented to return to Europe and play for AS Monaco.
With this signing, AS Monaco, who has been playing really well lately, might have a lot more chances in the Euroleague.
Nevertheless, the length of time it took Korkmaz to agree to a contract with a European team indicates that he is more than ready to return to the NBA should the chance arise.
He is an adaptable player with the ability to play a variety of positions and make baskets outside of the arc.
The Sixers didn’t really miss him, but it was more a result of the depth they added to their squad than of him.
