Due to a neck injury, Chicago White Sox pitcher Mike Clevinger will miss the rest of the season, the team announced on Saturday.
On August 1, the starting pitcher will have surgery to replace a disk in his neck.
Prior to being placed on the disabled list on May 28 due to right elbow inflammation—which additional testing indicated was caused by a neck injury—Clevinger, 33, had made four starts for the White Sox this season.
With a 6.75 ERA, the right-hander will conclude the season with a 0-3 record.
With a 3.77 ERA in 24 starts, Clevinger had a respectable season with the White Sox in 2023. In April 2024, he signed a $3 million, one-year contract to rejoin the team.
