The Seattle Mariners overcome Rodriguez’s injury with the help of Raley’s three-run home run to defeat the Houston Astros 6-4.
With a three-run home run from Luke Raley and 5 2/3 solid innings from Bryan Woo, the Seattle Mariners defeated the Houston Astros 6-4 on Sunday despite Julio Rodríguez’s injury.
After he twisted his right ankle jumping for a flyball near the center field fence on a triple by cycle-hitting Yordan Alvarez, Rodríguez left the game in the sixth inning.
After spending many minutes on the ground due to discomfort in his ankle, Rodríguez, along with manager Scott Servais and trainer Taylor Bennett, left the field. Servais stated that the first X-rays came back negative.
Servais said, “He has a minor ankle sprain.” For now, it’s on a daily basis. We’ll keep an eye on his development and gauge his mood.
According to Servais, Rodríguez would probably get an MRI for additional assessment.
Servais continued, “We’ll take all necessary measures to ensure he’s fully recovered before returning.”
Alvarez finished with three hits in the contest, including a home run against Woo in the fourth inning and a single in the first. In the eighth inning, he hit a double off Mariners reliever Gregory Santos to finish the cycle.
“I’m overjoyed,” Alvarez declared. “I knew I needed a double, but I felt some pressure. “There it is,” I thought as soon as I struck the ball.
