Ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline, the Dodgers and White Sox are talking about three players: Report
It’s less than a week until the MLB trade deadline. The Dodgers need to find an impact outfield bat and a great starting pitcher quickly.
There are guys on the Chicago White Sox who meet both criteria. With a 27-77 record, the team is the worst in MLB. They are now clear sellers going into the deadline on Tuesday.
The Dodgers have targeted three players in particular for the White Sox, according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic:
For the postseason, all three players would step in to cover gaps in the Dodgers lineup. It is unlikely that Los Angeles will be able to afford to acquire all three players.
Crochet has made 21 appearances this season with a 3.07 ERA, 157 strikeouts, and 25 walks. Just two strikeouts behind Dylan Cease of the Padres, he stands second in the Major Leagues in strikeouts and sixth in WHIP (0.97). The fact that Crochet gives the squad two more years of control is another appealing quality.
His greatest weakness is that he is easily hurt. With 111.1 innings pitched this season, the southpaw has nearly doubled his career high of 65 innings set as a sophomore in college. However, this element can cause the asking price of crochet to drop.
