White Sox outfielder Tommy Pham is a target for the Dodgers at the trade deadline. Pham has been transferred three times at the deadline, including the previous two years.
Luis Robert Jr. and Randy Arozarena were discussed as possible trade targets by the Dodgers earlier in the week; but, Arozarena’s trade to Seattle on Thursday night took him off the list. Let us now examine Tommy Pham, a White Sox outfielder, who is currently available for purchase.
With five home runs and a 103 wRC+ this season, Pham is hitting.266/.332/.380 while playing all three outfield positions. With a 141 wRC+ versus lefties this season, the 36-year-old is hitting.255/.377/.471, and over his career, he is hitting.270/.381/.454 with a 129 wRC+ against southpaws.
“If the White Sox would rather move rental Tommy Pham, the veteran has never made more sense in the Dodgers’ lineup,” wrote Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic on Saturday.
“White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. is arguably the most talented of the bunch, but he has a long injury history and has been inconsistent at times,” said Juan Toribio of MLB.com in a summary of the Dodgers’ trade deadline aspirations on
Friday. Tommy Pham, Robert’s teammate, would be an inexpensive and sensible addition for the Dodgers. Pham is almost probably going to be traded by the White Sox before the deadline.
