Leeds United star set for scan as Daniel Farke explains trio’s absence from Schalke friendly
Daniel Farke said Leeds United plan to scan Crysencio Summerville’s hamstring after he missed the Schalke friendly and the Whites prioritised individual fitness sessions for two other senior stars.
Patrick Bamford and Daniel James joined Summerville on the sidelines as Leeds defeated the Bundesliga 2 team 2-0 at the Kümpel und Hellmeister Arena in Hamm.
Because of the knee injury and surgery he underwent last season, Bamford’s fitness has been closely monitored, and James has been recovering from a minor groin issue. Farke believed that Bamford would benefit more from another intense solo session than from making a brief appearance in the friendly, and James would soon return to squad training.
“With Patrick he was more or less nearly three months without team training, it’s his first week together with the team and he had good individual sessions today,” the manager remarked.
“We believe it would be wiser to increase his level of fitness rather to give him ten or fifteen minutes. It’s crucial that he attends individual sessions in addition to team training. His knee still requires us to use a little caution. Daniel James had some adductor issues, and he also needed an individual session today. I anticipate that he will resume team training the following week; there shouldn’t be any more issues.”
