Kentucky basketball is actively pursuing 5-star prospect Jasper Johnson, who is reaching the end of his recruitment and still in the running. A decision is expected in “late August.”
It’s almost time to say goodbye to one of the biggest recruits of the early Mark Pope era.
Jasper Johnson, a five-star prospect, is getting closer to making a college decision. This week, he made Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama, Louisville, and Arkansas his last five college options.
Johnson will decide in “late August” as well.
Johnson and Travis Branham, national analyst for 247Sports, dissected Kentucky’s messaging.
“Mark Pop gives me the good message of being the hometown kid,” stated Johnson. “He treats me consistently. He explains to me what he needs and how I can support his offensive. He wants to start his 2025 recruiting class with me and truly wants to coach me. It was nice since I got to meet the personnel and watch them in action. He wants me to enter the game and score the ball because he enjoys making 3-pointers.”
Johnson, who is originally from Woodford County, Kentucky, moved to Link Academy, a nationally renowned program, in Missouri last year. Last week, he made the announcement that he will be spending his final season at Overtime Elite, in Georgia.
