Leeds United in hunt to sign Norwich star Gabriel Sara as transfer news emerges from Italy

Leeds United have joined the race to sign Norwich City star Gabriel Sara, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported [26 July, page 31] that the 25-year-old is appreciated by Atalanta, with Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Galatasaray also interested in the Championship ace.

Sara has been hugely impressive during his time at Carrow Road, notching 13 goals and 12 assists in 46 Championship appearances last term, being dubbed as “outstanding” by David Wagner [Pink Un].

Leeds United to add Gabriel Sara to the ranks?

With multiple of Daniel Farke’s attacking talents being linked with moves away from Elland Road this summer, adding a free-scoring midfielder makes total sense for the Whites.

Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter have all been linked with exits from West Yorkshire due to the team missing out on promotion to the Premier League [TEAMtalk].

The three attacking stars combined for 33 goals and 26 assists in the Championship last season but was not enough to lead the Whites back to the top division as they lost out to Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley.

Sara, who could have been named Norwich’s Player of the Season for a second consecutive campaign, certainly could have helped Farke’s side to achieve promotion.

Only five players registered more Championship goal contributions than the Norwich man last season – Adam Amstrong, Sammie Szmodics, Summerville, Morgan Whittaker and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
