Insider Says Warriors Are ‘Still In The Mix’ To Land Star
The Golden State Warriors are going through a transition period with the team losing star guard Klay Thompson in NBA free agency after he decided to sign with the Dallas Mavericks to join forces with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in Texas.
Once Thompson officially decided to leave the team that drafted him, the consensus seemed to be that the championship window for the iconic Warriors, led by superstar Stephen Curry, had officially closed, especially with teams in the Western Conference only getting better and better.
Although the Warriors lost one of their key players to their four championships in this Curry era, Golden State might be able to pull off a blockbuster trade that would immediately put this team back in the title contender conversation in the West.
Despite rumors dying down recently about Lauri Markkanen and the Utah Jazz potentially moving him before next season, Zach Lowe of ESPN claims that Golden State is “still in the mix” to trade for the talented forward via GSW Ball Report.
“I think the Warriors are still in the mix for a Lauri Markkanen trade,” Lowe said.
Along with the Warriors reportedly still being in the mix to trade for Markkanen, the San Antonio Spurs have been rumored to be a trade suitor for the Jazz star as well.
This will almost certainly come down to which team is willing to give up the most for Markkanen, as he’s viewed as a game-changer and will demand a sizable trade package.
