76ers Sign Guard On Two-Way Contract After Impressive Summer League
The Philadelphia 76ers have been the most active team in the NBA offseason, at least when it comes to making significant moves.
Obviously, landing Paul George took this team a step further in terms of championship contention, but Daryl Morey doesn’t want to leave anything to chance.
With that in mind, the Sixers decided to give a hard-working young player a chance to make a living in the league.
According to a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic, G Jeff Dowtin Jr. will get a two-way contract after an impressive performance in the Summer League.
The Sixers had declined his team option earlier in the offseason, but they still granted him a spot on their Summer League roster.
In seven games, he averaged 17.1 points per game on 48/30/80 shooting splits to go along with 5.7 assists.
The 27-year-old had a brief stint with the Sixers last season after a myriad of injuries forced their hand to dig deep into the G-League to find some bucket-getters.
He had previously played for Nick Nurse with the Toronto Raptors, so it made sense for both parties.
The Sixers converted Dowtin’s two-way contract to a standard NBA contract, and he was a very efficient shooter in the 12 games he spent with the organization.
