The Green Bay Packers received a great deal of criticism when they made the decision to trade Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets last offseason. The reason for this decision, of course, was because they felt it was time to hand the keys of the offense over to Jordan Love, whom they traded up to pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Despite the fact that Rodgers got hurt and was out for the year in Week One, fans and analysts alike still criticized the Packers as Love and his group of first and second-year pass catchers struggled early in the 2023 NFL season. These doubters were silenced, however, when Green Bay (on the strength of Love’s throwing arm) won seven of their last ten games and clinched a spot in the NFL Playoffs.
Through seven games, Love was completing just 57.7% of his passes. He had 1,492 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and a passer rating of 78.2. Worse still, the Packers were 2-5.
However, the Packers went 7-3 in their final ten games while Love completed 68.7% of his passes for 2,667 yards, 21 touchdowns, just three interceptions, and a passer rating of 108.2.
