Gary O’Neil’s verdict on Hwang Hee-chan’s Wolves future
Despite prior reports linking Wolves’ £14m ace Hwang Hee-chan with a move away from the midlands, Gary O’Neil has recently stated that he is ‘pretty sure’ the South Korean international will not depart the club any time soon.
He has been in communication with Hwang, stating that he “understands his role in the team and how important he is to me and the group.” Furthermore, the 28-year-old is understood to be ‘happy’ at the club.
Previously, Hwang had been linked with a move to Marseille in Ligue 1. It was reported that the two parties had reached an agreement, though Wolves had not accepted a transfer offer for the player. Wolves are not willing to let him go this summer ‘at any cost’ – last season, Hwang played in 29 Premier League games, scoring 12 goals and registering three assists.
