CLEVELAND, Ohio — Day two of the MLB Draft saw Cleveland select eight pitchers, bringing their total to nine arms out of 11 selections. The club won’t say it, but there is clearly an effort being made to re-stock the player development system with pitching talent in a way similar to the 2021 draft that saw the club select 19 pitchers, mostly from college.

Welcome back to the Cleveland Baseball Talk podcast. I’m Joe Noga, joined by Paul Hoynes, Hoynsie the Home Run Derby, sort of one of the Jewel showcase events of all-Star weekend and really the season took place last night in Arlington, Texas. Jose Ramirez competed for the Guardians his second time in the home run derby this time around. Jose gave us a little bit to watch there in the first round. A lot of excitement and advanced for the first time, but ultimately got knocked out in the semi-finals against Bobby Whit Jr. What’d you think of Jose’s performance last night in the home run Derby?
