Wolves stance on Hwang Hee-chan emerges after claims he’s agreed personal terms with Marseille
Hwang Hee-chan is a target for Marseille – and now, there is word of Wolves’ stance on the player amid the speculation.
Hwang has been at Wolves for three years, joining on loan from RB Leipzig initially.
He enjoyed his best season to date at the club in 2023/24, scoring 13 goals across all competitions.
His best form came in the first half of the season, when he played in a forward line along with Matheus Cunha and Pedro Neto. Sadly for Gary O’Neil, those three players didn’t play nearly enough together as he’d have liked as they all picked up hamstring injuries at various points in the season.
But it was a top campaign from Hwang, who signed a new contract back in December as a reward for his form.
In recent days, Marseille have made a play for Hwang. The French club have already seen a £21 million bid rejected.
Today, it was reported Hwang has actually agreed personal terms with Marseille, and now there is word on Wolves’ stance.
The speculation about Hwang has come rather out of the blue.
Leading into the summer, there had been no talk about him being someone who could potentially leave this summer. Especially since he had had such a great season and also signed a new contract.
Most of the talk has been about his fellow winger Neto leaving.
But Marseille are keen, and it remains to be seen if they’ll come back in with an improved bid.
Apparently, £70,000-a-week star Hwang has actually already given the move the green light. He is said to have agreed personal terms, so it’s just whether Marseille can tempt Wolves
