After eating and training alone at Hull City Jaden Philogene secures Aston Villa return for £13m
Hull City star Jaden Philogene will be announced later today as an Aston Villa player
Jaden Philogene has completed a medical at Aston Villa’s training ground ahead of his move from Hull City. The 22-year-old winger left City’s training base in Istanbul on Friday afternoon during the first-team’s first session of the day to fly back to England.
Philogene will sign a five-year deal at Villa after the Birmingham side opted to resign him less than a year after selling him to City in a deal thought to be worth just under £5m. It looked for much of the past two weeks that Philogene would join Jacob Greaves at Ipswich Town after the two clubs agreed a double deal, but under the terms of City’s agreement with Villa, the Premier League outfit had the right to match any accepted bid.
Once Villa’s interest was known, the lure of working with Unai Emery and the chance to play in the Premier League left Philogene with a decision to make. Having originally not been on the City flight out of Humberside Airport on Wednesday morning, Philogene linked up with the players at their training base in Riva late on Wednesday night, but didn’t take part in any of Tim Walter’s training sessions, nor did he eat with with the rest of the players.
