14-goal Burnley ace wanted by Steven Gerrard’s Ettifaq, West Ham and Wolves also interested
HITC understands that an English midfielder wanted by Brentford, West Ham United and Wolves is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League and particularly Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.
Since moving to the Saudi Pro League, following a spell as manager of Aston Villa, former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has been managing Middle Eastern side Al-Ettifaq.
Gerrard brought with him former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson but the Englishman has since moved to Ajax, back in January.
The Al-Ettifaq boss was understood to be disappointed to lose former England captain Henderson and he is now looking back to his homeland to find a replacement.
Burnley midfielder attracting Saudi interest
Sources have told HITC that Gerrard is exploring the possibility of bringing English midfielder Josh Brownhill to Ettifaq.
HITC understands that Brownhill is top of his wanted list and are the Saudi side are now weighing up a potential offer for the Burnley man.
Former Bristol City boss Dean Holden, currently Gerrard’s number two in Saudi, has close hand knowledge of Brownhill after taking him to Ashton Gate and he is understood to have given his boss a glowing report of the midfielder’s abilities.
