Former Dodgers Outfielder Becomes Free Agent Ahead of Potential Revenge Series
The Philadelphia Phillies announced Wednesday that former Dodgers outfielder David Dahl has cleared waivers and elected free agency.

Dahl was designated for assignment on Monday when the Phillies announced the return of Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper from the injured list.
Dahl hit well in three months with the Dodgers organization, slashing .282/.354/.493 in 54 games at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers last June and became a free agent at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old was on pace for a remarkable comeback story when his contract was selected on June 3 from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Unfortunately, he ran out of time. He hit two home runs in his first three games with the big league club this season before hitting a wall. Since then, he’s had a .154/.196/.231 line in 56 plate appearances.
Dahl spent most of 2020-23 injured and appeared to be in a good place physically when he signed a minor league contract with the Phillies in the offseason. Before his call-up, he appeared in 43 minor league games slashing .340/.416/.660 during his 166 plate appearances with 12 home runs.
The veteran passed five years of service this season but won’t reach six until next season. Perhaps, he will find a new home once a spot opens up during the July 30 trade deadline shuffle.
