Newcastle linked with Leicester City star, Argentinian winger and Lazio midfielder
Transfer season is kicking into gear and we’ve seen three players linked with potential summer moves to Newcastle United this week; Leicester’s Kasey McAteer, Juventus’ Matias Soule and Lazio’s Mattéo Guendouzi.
Starting with McAteer, Ben Jacobs has revealed that the Foxes talent is one of the names under consideration on Tyneside as Newcastle look to sign at least one right-winger this summer.
The 22-year-old is not yet the finished product and is unlikely to be someone we’d expect to go straight into Eddie Howe’s XI, but he impressed in the Championship last season with six goals in 13 starts under Enzo Maresca; who has since left for Chelsea.
Then to Serie A, the Italian media have reported on our interest in Argentine winger Matias Soule once again, with Corriere dello Sport claiming that Newcastle, Aston Villa and Leicester are all keen on the 21-year-old Juventus talent who scored 11 goals on loan at Frosinone last season.
Bayern Leverkusen are also thought to be in the mix, but the same Italian outlet say it’s Leicester who’ve made the first formal offer worth €25m.
Last but not least, another name who has been linked more than once over the past month is former Arsenal man Mattéo Guendouzi. It’s unclear if we’ll want another midfielder – Elliot Anderson’s departure and Lewis Miley’s injury may change things – and Gazzetta dello Sport report that we’re showing serious interest alongside Aston Villa.
