West Ham United have tabled a £12.6million bid for Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana, according to AfricaFoot.
Writing on their website (9 July), the news outlet report that the 21-year-old striker has been subject of a bid from the Hammers while Everton are also in talks with his representatives about a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Julen Lopetegui is keen to bolster his forward line ahead of the new season, and Chelsea are looking to raise funds by selling some of their fringe players during the summer window.
West Ham United to sign David Datro Fofana
West Ham are desperate to add to their forward line this summer, with some big question marks over the current striker department.
Michail Antonio is wanted by Saudi and MLS clubs [Athletic, 15 May], while Danny Ings is wanted by Southampton, and that leaves no natural striker options available at the London Stadium.
Several top forwards have been linked including Callum Wilson [KUMB, 2 July] and Youssef En-Nesyri, while bids have also been made for Aston Villa star Jhon Duran.
However, Tim Steidten is clearly keeping his fingers in a number of pies this summer and won’t be standing still on a single target while the club need to strengthen.
After just six goals in 32 appearances in the 2023/24 season for Union Berlin and Burnley fans may need convincing that Datro Fofana is the man to solve their problems, but Lopetegui is clearly keen if a bid has been made.
