CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Cavaliers’ first-round pick has started his transition from college basketball player to professional athlete. Wearing Donovan Mitchell’s signature shoes is a great start for the rookie, who has said his NBA role has been a fast transition.
“It’s been different. The NBA is run a whole lot differently. You are a man, you are doing your own thing,” said Tyson. “The first couple of days, I felt like I was moving like a robot (laughs). I wasn’t playing my game, but I am learning every day.”
The Cavaliers’ summer league team has been practicing for the last three days before heading to Las Vegas at the end of the week. The showcase allows rookies to show coaches why they deserve a spot on the team roster. Tyson is committed to showing the Cavs’ new head coach, Kenny Atkinson, what he can do.
“I want to show that I can be a three-and-D player and that I can fit in any role they put me in. They have me playing a little point guard. I can play point guard or wing. I want to show the front office and coaching staff how I can fit with the team when training camp comes.”
