Former Stoke City duo wanted by Premier League club in triple transfer raid
Loan spells at Stoke City were Liam Delap and Jaden Philogene’s first real taste of senior football but both could be playing in the Premier League next season
Liam Delap is believed to have held talks with Ipswich Town in what could be a triple raid on last season’s Hull City squad.
Delap is a wanted man this summer after showing his potential on loan at Hull from Manchester City, on the back of challenging spells with Stoke City and Preston North End.
The 21-year-old striker was spotted at Portman Road last Thursday while Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna continues to be linked a £35 million double deal for his old Hull teammates Jaden Philogene, another former Stoke loanee, and centre-half Jacob Greaves.
There will be strong competition, however, for Delap, the son of Stoke legend Rory. The MEN claims that fellow promoted side Southampton “are another of the clubs keen” and Hull would like him back although he is expected to step up to the top flight rather than spend another term in the Championship.
“City will make a healthy profit on Delap to continue their record of getting substantial sums for their young players,” says the MEN, pointing out that Taylor Harwood-Bellis – another ex-Stoke loan boy – joined Southampton in a £20 million deal earlier this summer.
