New Leicester City manager Steve Cooper is trying to assemble a squad capable of staying in the Premier League.
With the departure of both manager Enzo Maresca and star player Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea it has been a difficult start to the summer for Leicester City.
However, both of those exits played their part in ensuring Leicester are expected to have successfully navigated the 30th June PSR deadline; the £10 million compensation for Maresca and £30 million for Dewsbury-Hall seeing them through.
Now, Steve Cooper can concentrate on bringing players into the club to bolster the ranks ahead of a return to the Premier League and should have some money to spend despite Leicester’s financial concerns.
Leicester have already made two signings this summer in the shape of 18-year-old midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea and free agent Bobby De Cordova-Reid.
Last season’s loanee Abdul Fatawu is set to make his deal permanent for £14 million, whilst the club also look set to wrap up a deal for Atalanta defender Caleb Okoli for a fee in the region of £12 million.
Once these deals are concluded, Cooper will look to continue to strengthen his side and Telegraph journalist John Percy has reported that ‘another forward is thought to be the priority’ for the Foxes.
