West Ham United target Alexander Sorloth can now be signed for just €30 million
West Ham United can now sign Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth for just €30 million this summer after the La Liga club lowered their asking price, according to information from Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport.
The Yellow Submarine initially wanted €38m from suitors for the 6ft 5in Norway international, but no one has activated his release clause, which has forced them to take €8m off their asking price as they are desperate to comply with Financial Fair Play rules from UEFA and also balance the books having failed to qualify for Europe last term.
Villarreal finished the 2023-24 La Liga campaign in eighth place, and it was not enough to even get them into the Conference League.
As a result, they need to sell some of their most-prized assets, and West Ham have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Sorloth.
Only Girona striker Artem Dovbyk bagged more goals than the 23 strikes the Hammers target returned last season as he simply continued from where he stopped in 2022-23 when he notched 16 goals across all competitions for Real Sociedad.
Having impressed for the likes of Trabzonspor and Midtjylland in front of goal, joining West Ham so as to prove himself in the Premier League after an uninspiring time at Crystal Palace could appeal to the Norwegian.
