Hockey business is hockey business and some members of the 2023-24 Minnesota Wild have found work elsewhere. Some players we are more emotionally tied to and hope for the best, and others we truly could not notice them leaving.

First, Mason Shaw (who is part of that emotionally tied group, of course) has found new work across the border, for the Winnipeg Jets. It is just a one-year, two-way deal for some forward depth for the Jets, but hopefully he can make it work and find himself in a very solid bottom-six role up there. [Daily Faceoff]

Next, defenseman Dakota Mermis, who really has the Wild to thank for being able to continue his career after getting in some solid NHL time last season, has signed a similar one-year, two-way deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. We know that team could use some defense, and after finding Simon Benoit last year, maybe Mermis can be the same of the injury bug strikes to roughly four defensemen. [The Hockey News]

It’s a little bit of old news, but former fan favorite Brandon Duhaime signed a two-year deal for the Washington Capitals as they are aiming to actually make the playoffs this year. [Sportsnet]

And finally, Pat Maroon gets to spend more time around highly skilled players as he signs a one-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks. Good for him still sticking around. [NHL.com]
