Ryan Woods says a decision to sign a permanent deal with Exeter City was an easy decision after having his contract at Hull City terminated earlier this week.

Woods enjoyed his brief stint at St James’ Park in the second half of last season which saw the Grecians ease away from danger at the bottom of League One into the relatively calmer waters of mid-table.

In fact, during his 14 appearances, Exeter won eight and lost just twice in the games the 30-year-old midfielder played in, proof of how effective he was for Gary Caldwell’s outfit.

After agreeing a settlement with City over the remaining year of his MKM Stadium deal, Woods wasted no time in penning a two-year deal with the Devon club and expressed how pleased he was to make the move a permanent one, admitting he’d regained his love for football.

“This was such an easy decision and the desire the club showed wanting me to come back, and the desire I showed in wanting to come back – it was so easy in the end,” Woods exclaimed. “I have spoken before about the enjoyment factor I had last season – I hadn’t had that in such a long time – and my performance I think represented that on the pitch.
