Dodgers plan to give Bobby Miller extra rest rather than start on four days rest on Sunday. Instead, that start will go to Justin Wrobleski for his major league debut per a report from The Athletic.

The Dodgers rotation is running on fumes heading into the All-Star break, and none of the experienced starters on the injured list are anywhere close to a return. So they are dipping back into the minors, planning to call up left-hander Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Sunday’s series finale against the Brewers at Dodger Stadium, per Fabian Ardaya at The Athletic and Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

Sunday would have been Bobby Miller’s turn in the rotation, but the Dodgers opted not to have him pitch on five days rest. He allowed two runs in five innings on Tuesday against Arizona, escaping a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the fourth inning without any damage.

But after Gavin Stone’s shutout of the White Sox on June 26, Miller is the only Dodger starter to complete five innings. In the last six games, the rotation has allowed 25 runs in 24 innings. Losing Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Walker Buehler hurt the depth of quality starters, and in June the rotation averaged a full inning per start, on average, less than in May.
