Sheffield Wednesday are still very much hoping to sign Troyes striker, Iké Ugbo, for the season ahead.
Ugbo enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Hillsborough in the second half of last season, scoring some vital goals in a run that saw the club stay in up spectacular fashion following a horror start.
The Canadian international was a huge part of their survival bid, and The Star has previously reported of their intentions to try and get him back – and it’s understood that they currently remain locked in talks with regards to getting a deal done.
Unlike some of their other signings this summer, the 25-year-old is still contracted to a club at this point in time, and not only that but his deal also still has another couple of years left to run on it. Troyes’ relegation into the third tier of French football made a move more likely, but he’s also unlikely to come a cut-price fee.
It’s thought that the club and Danny Röhl are still holding out a hope that terms will be agreed with both the French club and the player himself in order for him to start the 2024/25 campaign with the Owls – it’s a signing that would also be immensely popular amongst the fanbase.
