Bruins depth piece signs with Flyers

Anthony Richard’s quest to find a regular role in the NHL has led him to Philadelphia.

Richard, who spend the 2023-24 season between the Providence and Boston Bruins signed with the Flyers on Tuesday.

“OFFICIAL: We have signed center Anthony Richard to a two-year, two-way contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000. #LetsGoFlyers”

The 27-year-old had a goal and two assists in nine NHL games for the Bruins after signing with Boston last summer. Richard has four goals and four assists in 24 career NHL games with the Bruins, Canadiens and Predators. He was a fourth-round pick of Nashville in 2015.

The Bruins liked Richard’s play, but sent him back to Providence to risk exposing him to waivers last year. He had 55 points on 25 goals, 30 assists in 59 regular games for the P-Bruins.

After three collegiate seasons at Providence College, the 2020 sixth-round pick is finally within Boston’s organization.

“Just come in with confidence,” Duran said Tuesday at Warrior Ice Arena of his approach entering the 2024-25 season. “I think that’s my biggest thing. When I’m playing with confidence, that’s when I’m at my best. Just get bigger and stronger. It’s not a boy’s game anymore, it’s a man’s game.”
