Sunderland have ‘asked’ about signing ‘brilliant’ Crystal Palace gem, three rivals also keen
Sunderland will be eager to bolster their frontline before their Championship opener against Cardiff City.
Sunderland are set to face stiff competition to keep hold of Jack Clarke this summer, though the winger is yet to receive any bids for his signature.
With Southampton reportedly put off by his valuation, the Black Cats could be offered the chance to keep him, but will look to bring in some attacking reinforcements either way.
The Wearside outfit struggled for goals and creativity last term and have since been linked with a number of wingers to help them out next time round.
Sunderland reignite interest in Premier League gem
Sunderland were interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi last summer, and it now looks like they are after him again.
Writing on his Patreon, journalist Alan Nixon said: “Blackburn, Sunderland, Stoke and QPR have all asked for Rak-Sakyi – with Palace keen to loan rather than sell.”
Having netted a total of 32 goals and provided 16 assists in 57 matches for the Eagles’ youth teams, the youngster attracted further attention after a ‘brilliant’ loan spell at Charlton Athletic.
Rak-Sakyi was named their Player of the Year in the 2022-23 campaign after bagging 21 goal contributions in League One.
The 21-year-old then returned to Selhurst Park but managed only six appearances in the Premier League last term.
Rak-Sakyi still has three years left on his contract and looks set to leave the club on loan to further develop his talent.
