The starting pitcher goes out and has a great start and the offense scores just enough for the other team to overcome it and win by the slimmest of margins. It’s rinse and repeat with this team. That’s all they do and at this point, there’s barely a reason to continue watching.
But here we are still watching a train wreck of a season unfold. The outcome is predictable and it seems there is no escape from it.
With Jameson Taillon on the mound, the Cubs were looking to build off their recent victory against the Giants. A series against the Brewers was going to be difficult. To start, the Cubs had runners at first and second with nobody out. Now was the time to capitalize against a division rival. But like clockwork, the team continues to kill its own rallies.
Cody Bellinger promptly hit into a double play and Seiya Suzuki struck out. A big waste of an opportunity right there for a team in desperate need of production.
Jameson Taillon gave a solid performance on Friday. He was able to get through the first eight batters without allowing a hit. It was a perfect time for the Cubs to get things going on offense.
