MLB-NEWS: According to ESPN, the Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers’ elite catcher have officially struck an agreement on a four-year, $170.3 million mega deal. but unfortunately….

They’re already pretty deep. No need to mortgage the future

It all started with an innocent column on ESPN, where the “perfect fit” for the Phillies was named as Luis Robert.

Robert, the 26-year-old center fielder for the Chicago White Sox, is under contract through 2027, giving the Phillies four potential postseason runs. His injury proneness is understandably worrisome, but his ceiling is tantalizing enough to see past the concerns…Philadelphia president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski has never been afraid to deal top prospects, and good thing: It will take a steep haul to land Robert because so few impact bats are on the market. Chicago could reasonably ask Philadelphia for Aidan Miller, who dropped to the 27th overall pick in last year’s MLB draft and could end this season as a top 25 prospect.

The Athletic, courtesy of Ralph, chimed in, polling executives around the game and coming up with top five or six starters, relievers and position players that might get moved at the deadline. When coming up with small blurbs for each player, no one specific team was mentioned as to who would be interested in each player – except for the Phillies. The Phillies specifically were mentioned for both Jazz Chisholm and Luis Robert, needle moving trades both.
