There’s no quarterback in the NFL that Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons won’t chirp at.
It’s arguably what he does best behind wreaking havoc in the backfield and pressuring the passer.
During a recent appearance on the “Rich Eisen Show,” Simmons admitted that he’s champing at the bit to face the Titans’ Week 1 opponent, the Chicago Bears, so he can unleash a verbal assault on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
“Painted nails — I can’t wait to say that to him,” Simmons said. “It’s going to be one of them games. I mean, he probably gets smack-talked by his teammates right now but…a game like Chicago, I’m sure (they’re) thinking we about to get beat bad. That also make me even talk more smack and boost me up a little more, make me get into a different mode, as well. I’ll be in a different mode that game.”
Simmons is an admitted trash-talker, a designation he wears proudly.
The 26-year-old lineman has developed a reputation for talking so much that he gets in the minds of his opponents and affects them to the point of involving the officials in the situation.
