Royals look to Seth Lugo to help them win the series against the Marlins.
In the second game of their three-game series, the Kansas City Royals will look to put on another strong all-around effort when they host the Miami Marlins on Tuesday.
The Royals won the first game of the series 4-1 on Monday night, snapping a three-game losing streak and a 25-inning scoreless slump. Starting pitcher Cole Ragans gave Kansas City six strong innings, three hitless innings of relief, and three solo home runs.
Veteran catcher Salvador Perez of the Royals stated, “We’re going to play hard until the last game of the season.” That was our Monday night activity. Let go of the past; we only need to focus on the present moment. We will focus on Tuesday after securing the victory on Monday.
Paul Hoover, the bench coach for the Royals, stated he felt certain hitters were pushing at the plate after being shut out in consecutive games.
“Everyone tries to do a little bit more when you’re struggling,” stated Hoover, who managed the team on Monday for the second straight game while Matt Quatraro was out due to a personal issue.
“It’s a tough game and when we’re trying to do more than what we can, it becomes real difficult.”
