This offseason, talk has been sporadic at best. A number of stories indicate that in the weeks after the 2024 NFL Draft, talk has decreased.
But, it appears that things might soon be improving as Adam Schefter and ESPN’s Ryan Clark both reported on NFL Live that Aiyuk is meeting with the 49ers in Santa Clara today.

Following a hectic offseason for receivers in which several wideouts signed new contracts near the top of the market, driving up prices, Aiyuk’s extension talks are taking place.
Aiyuk’s request for a compensation hike is understandable given that he was among the NFL’s best pass catchers in 2023, having caught 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.
The 49ers are no strangers to this area; they have previously handled several challenging extensions, albeit ultimately the organization has completed deals for its best players.

Aiyuk’s refusal to visit the facility during the 49ers summer program raises the possibility that the deal negotiations would drag on into the offseason. Deebo Samuel and Nick Bosa, two of his colleagues, went through a similar process in previous offseasons and admitted that it caused them to start the season slower.

Although the final cost of Aiyuk’s contract is uncertain, rumors suggest that it could be in the $25–30 million range per year, which would match the amount of previous offseason extensions.
