Having played for the Boston Celtics the previous season, forward Oshae Brissett may be looking for a new place to call home this summer. Brissett is officially an unrestricted free agent after declining his $2.5 million player option for the 2024–25 campaign, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac. Despite the possibility, Brissett’s re-signing with the organization in the summer seems improbable given Boston’s salary limit constraints.

Forward Oshae Brissett, who spent last season playing for the Boston Celtics, might be searching for a new residence this summer. According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, Brissett turned down his $2.5 million player option for the 2024–25 season, making him an official unrestricted free agent. Though it’s possible, Boston’s salary cap restrictions make Brissett’s summertime re-signing with the team seem unlikely.

Brissett is also included in the preliminary list for the 2018 Olympics for Team Canada.

Free agent for the Boston Celtics chooses to use player option
Oshae Brissett brought the Celtics a lot of energy.
Brissett’s 2023–24 season stat line was not very noteworthy. That does not negate the fact that he had an influence on the team, though. Brissett was a frequent player entry for the Celtics, helping them out on both ends of the court. His enthusiasm was a valuable asset whenever his number was called, particularly while he was on the boards. He also gave the Celtics solid depth throughout the entire season. Throughout the most of the regular season, he was a consistent member of the rotation and only started one game.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla spoke in January about his “trust” in Brissett.

Joe Mazzula, the coach of the C’s, stated, “He’s continuing to earn trust.” He’s played pretty well, in my opinion. When he entered the game in the third or fourth game of the season against Miami, the atmosphere of the game was altered. He’s been doing that, he’s become lot better at reading matchups in our defensive scheme, and I have total faith in him. We therefore have some degree of faith in every man we bring into the game, and he shares that sentiment. With two bigs out last night, we went to see him, and I trust everyone on that roster.

The Celtics will undoubtedly miss Brissett’s presence if he decides to sign with another team. But Brissett’s exit might make room for Jordan Walsh, whom Boston selected in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Other Free Agents in Boston Except Oshae Brissett
The Celtics must decide on a number of free agents this summer, in addition to Brissett. This summer, big man Xavier Tillman, forward Svi Mykhailiuk, and center Luke Kornet are all free agents. Restricted free agents also include center Neemias Queta, forward Drew Peterson, guard JD Davison, and forward Sam Hauser. Bird rights only apply to Hauser, Kornet, and Tillman for the Celtics. The team also owns Early Bird rights on Davison.

It is probable that general manager Brad Stevens will try to retain as much of the roster together after the team finished the previous season as NBA champions for the first time in sixteen years.
